Netli, the first company to offer a complete Application Delivery Network (ADN) service, today announced a comprehensive partnership with Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ), Japan's leading Internet access and network solutions provider. The partnership enables IIJ to become the first company in Japan to provide Netli's NetLightning service and to deliver global sub-second response times for Web-based applications.

The partnership unites Netli's breakthrough ADN service that transparently provides global sub-second response times, high availability and secure access for Web applications with IIJ's experience and expertise at delivering IP solutions to enterprise customers. Per the terms of the agreement, IIJ will place Netli Application Access Points (AAPs) into its infrastructure to extend the Netli ADN. The AAPs hosted by IIJ will provide Web applications hosted in Japan an on ramp to Netli's global network. IIJ will market and sell the service under the IIJ NetLightning brand. Netli will manage and operate the ADN and provide marketing and technical support. IIJ NetLightning enables Japanese enterprises with globally-distributed end users to experience Web application performance and availability that is similar to local users.

"Netli's Application Delivery Network is a highly scalable, secure and flexible platform that allows service providers such as IIJ to dramatically improve response times for customers that serve global markets via the Internet," says Peter Christy, principal analyst, NetsEdge Research Group. "This relationship is another step in Netli's growing maturity as a global solution provider and strengthens the basis of the continued expansion of the NetLightning service."

Founded in 1992 as a pioneer of commercial Internet services in Japan, IIJ has built one of the largest Internet backbone networks in Japan as well as between Japan and the United States. IIJ provides total IP solutions including new generation network services over optical-fiber infrastructure optimized for data communications, construction of Asian-wide IP backbone networks, high-quality Internet access, securities, hosting/housing, content design and systems integration.

"Our customers regard IIJ as a critical partner for empowering them to do business on a global scale via the Internet," says Toshiya Asaba, IIJ managing director. "Until now, no technology was available to solve the performance and availability problems associated with Web applications and distributed end users. With the IIJ NetLightning service, we are dramatically extending our value by increasing the performance of our customers' Web applications (such as eCommerce, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM)) without requiring them to make any capital investments or changes to their existing IT infrastructures."

"As a leader in IP service and technology, we are pleased with IIJ's commitment to offer ADN services to the Japanese market," said John Peters, Netli CEO. "By leveraging Netli's unique platform, IIJ is offering a highly differentiated solution through its ability to introduce high performance application delivery as part of its overall offering. We look forward to extending the reach of our breakthrough ADN platform through this partnership."
