NETLI EXPANDS SERVICE INTO INDIA AND KOREA
Enterprises with offshore development or support centers can now deliver LAN-like performance for Web applications
Palo Alto, California-November 17, 2003-Netli, the first company to offer a complete Application Delivery Network (ADN), announced today that it has significantly increased the reach of its NetLightning™ service. By expanding its service infrastructure into India and Korea, end users in these countries can now experience sub-second response times to Web applications that are hosted by Netli's enterprise customers in the US or elsewhere. Enterprises benefit by using the service to outsource operations or expand into these markets and reduce costs by eliminating or avoiding the use of costly distributed infrastructure.
Netli's expansion was driven by new and existing customer demand and required the deployment of two new Virtual Data Centers. Virtual Data Centers provide users a local on ramp to Netli's network where they gain access to applications accelerated by the NetLightning service. With NetLightning, Web applications appear to be globally replicated even while being served from a centralized data center. India and Korea represent Netli's fourteenth and fifteenth Virtual Data Centers. With the launch of these markets, Netli now optimizes the delivery of Web applications to end users in over 20 countries.
"We continue to build out our infrastructure to meet the growing demands for our service." said Willie M. Tejada, Netli's Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. "We are enabling enterprises to reduce complexity and application infrastructure while still allowing them to execute strategic initiatives like call center, software development and manufacturing outsourcing. Virtual Data Center deployments in these new regions enable us to support the growing number of enterprises adopting this trend."
Netli prioritized turning up service in these two countries based on customer demand, the significant number of multi-national businesses doing business in them, and the number of Internet users in each market. According to Cambridge, Mass.-based Forrester Research, nearly half of all CIOs use offshore providers today with India being the world's outsourcing leader. South Korea has the world's highest broadband penetration rate and according to the South Korean Ministry of Information and Communication about 73 percent of all households have access to broadband services.
Netli's Indian VDC is housed in a Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) facility. VSNL was formerly a wholly owned government corporation and is India's leading provider of international telecommunications and Internet services. The company maintains relations with over 80 carriers across the globe.
Netli's Korean VDC is housed in a secure, reliable and high performance SingTel facility. SingTel owns and operates C2C and i2I submarine cables which provide seamless terabit connectivity across Asia. The company's Internet Exchange is Asia's largest Internet Backbone, supplying more than 2.5 gigabits of bandwidth to Asia Pacific region. And the extensive Internet connectivity has direct connections to over 33 countries and more than 90 ISPs in the Asia Pacific region.
