HP DEPLOYS NETLI SERVICE TO ENHANCE PARTNER PRODUCTIVITY
NetLightning™ Provides Sub-second Response Times for Global Developer Community
Palo Alto, California - April 21, 2003 - Netli, the first company to offer a complete Application Delivery Network (ADN) service, announced today that HP has selected its NetLightning service to improve the Internet performance of its international developer's portal. HP depends on its Developer & Solutions Partner Program (DSPP) to communicate and share information with thousands of developers around the world who help create new applications and drive sales of HP hardware systems. By implementing NetLightning, HP consistently delivers sub-second access to the DSPP Portal for its global developer community and increased application availability, while avoiding costly infrastructure build out. HP is one of a growing list of companies to select the NetLightning service, which was officially launched today (see today's Netli press release, Netli Enables Multinational Enterprises to Extend the Reach of Mission-critical Applications Globally From a Central Data Center).
NetLightning is the first Application Delivery Network (ADN) service that transparently provides global sub-second response times for Web applications in a centralized data center. The service requires no changes to site content, servers or client software, or investment in expensive, complex networking technology.
The availability and performance of the DSPP Portal are critical to the productivity of HP's developer community. However, overseas users experienced long download times - up to five seconds in Europe and up to nine seconds in Asia. Developers complained to HP's European and Asia Pacific offices that the system was slow, inconvenient and difficult to use. Monthly satisfaction surveys of developers showed the delays were straining the developer and partner relationships. HP turned to Netli and realized immediate and dramatic results, including:
- Consistent sub-second response times measured from Atlanta, San Francisco, London, and Tokyo
- Significant increase in partner satisfaction through the complete elimination of poor Web application performance, the number one complaint from the DSPP community
- Avoidance of hundreds of thousands of dollars in data center build-outs and data replication solutions
"Netli's NetLightning service has given us the outstanding performance we required with a transparent implementation and no capital investment," said Tony Hinojosa, Portal Development Manager of the Enterprise Solutions Partners Division's DSPP Web site at HP. "Since we subscribed to NetLightning, our DSPP site has been averaging more than two million additional hits per month and our worldwide partners can now access information in less than a second, making them happier and more productive. To put it simply, Netli is one of the best partnerships I have had in my 13 years at HP."
"With employees, partners, and customers around the world, HP clearly understands the critical role that Internet performance plays in conducting business with their global community," said John Peters, Netli's CEO. "As one of the world's most influential technology companies, HP's selection of Netli as their Application Delivery Network provider is a major validation of our technology and company. We look forward to continuing to deliver sub-second response times to HP's end users wherever they may be located."
