NETRATINGS SELECTS NETLI TO INCREASE AND PROTECT REVENUE FOR ITS ONLINE INFORMATION SERVICES THROUGH IMPROVED CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
NetLightning™ Dramatically Improves Customer Satisfaction by Delivering Sub-second Response Times and Increased Availability
Palo Alto, California - April 21, 2003 - Netli, the first company to offer a complete Application Delivery Network (ADN) service, today announced that Nielsen//NetRatings (Nasdaq: NTRT) has selected it to improve performance for its flagship offering, NetView. The online business information service encompasses more than 35 pre-defined reports and a custom query capability featuring in-depth measurements of Internet user behavior at home and at work. NetRatings provides the industry's global standard for Internet and digital media measurement and analysis. It offers technology-driven Internet information solutions to media, advertising, eCommerce and financial companies, enabling them to make informed decisions about their Internet strategies. The services include NetView, the Nielsen//NetRatings Internet audience measurement service; AdRelevance, the leading online ad measurement service; @Plan, the leading target-marketing platform for Internet media planning, buying and selling; WebRF, the industry's first comprehensive media reach and frequency planning tool; and custom research and analysis.
NetView dynamically generates its data from ten-terabyte databases. Its performance is critical to daily operations because customers, salespeople and panelists must all be able to access the main data center via the Internet. While the NetRatings applications are engineered to return data to the user in five seconds or less, users were experiencing far slower response times and considerable downtime. The company was receiving multiple complaints a day from both U.S. and international users and there was a concern that customer frustration was hurting service renewals and sales.
NetRatings needed a comprehensive technology solution that would accelerate application performance while permitting the transmission of enormous amounts of data. The company wanted to protect and increase its revenue stream without spending millions on building and staffing new data centers. Netli's NetLightning proved to be the answer.

NetLightning provided sub-second response times, which improved network performance from London by a factor of seven. U.S. customers, partners, and employees were suddenly enjoying nearly 100 percent application availability and overseas uptime increased from 95 percent to well over 99 percent. Complaints about application performance virtually disappeared. The sales force says the improved customer experience has enhanced both new sales opportunities and the retention of existing customers. NetRatings' partnership with Netli has produced:
